Copper Concerts

Wow!! Kyle Martin was SPECTACULAR last night. He played every Billy Joel song that we could think of, Piano Man, Shamless, We Didn't Start the Fire, She's Got a Way, and New York State of Mind - with a little change of words - a "Copperopolis" State of Mind - just to name a few. He played for three hours to the biggest concert crowd the Town Square has seen. No one wanted to leave! And people were dancing in the Square. I'm sure Kyle Martin will be back!

If you weren't able to make this concert, you won't want to miss next Friday Night's Concert with The Jeff Watson Band. This band is an eclectic mix well-seasoned professionals who have traveled the national and international circuit, as well as performing with some of the music industry's elite: BB King, Elvin Bishop, Etta James, Buddy Guy, Johnny Heartman, The Willie Nelson Band, Coco Montoya and Tower of Power, just to name a few.

In the meantime, Sunday Afternoon, the Town Square will host a concert with Vince and Sally Arelli. Sally's voice and delivery always captivates an audience with a beautiful ballad or entices them to sing along to familiar upbeat tunes. Vince sings and plays keyboard utilizing state of the art studio technologies. Vince and Sally are definitely a local favorite.

September is Spectacular in Copperopolis!

There aren't many months more beautiful in Copperopolis than September. The mornings are crisp and the days are warm. The sun starts to set a little sooner, but there's still LOTS of day light. Kids are back in school (boo-hoo). We have SO much going on in September, I hope I don't forget something.

If it's September, it must be FREE Concerts at the Copperopolis Town Square!
We have a GREAT line up starting Friday, September 4 at 6:00 with Joel - The Band - a Tribute to Billy Joel. We have the Jeff Watson Band (Sacramento's Favorite Blues Man), The Jukes (Urban Blues infused with Jazz and Funk), Diamond Duo (ranging from wartime hits of the 40's to today's contemporary music) and Copperopolis' own Vince & Sally. Concert dates are 9/4, 9/6, 9/11, 9/12, 9/18 and 9/19. The full line up can be found at the Copperopolis Town Square website. Friday concerts start at 6:00, Saturday and Sunday concerts start at 2:00.

In addition to the music events on Saturday 9/12 and 9/19, we will also have a couple of fun events planned for you. Join us on Saturday September 12, starting at 2:00 for...."DOG DAY AFTERNOON" - no, not the movie! This event focuses around Man's Best Friend, our beloved Dogs. Bring your four-legged best friend (dogs only, please) for a "WOOFING" good time . We will have a parade, prizes and awards in several categories, sponsored by the Town Square Merchants. Categories include Friendliest Dog, Most Stylish Dog, Owner Look-a-like, Cutest Doggie, Big Dog, Shortest Dog, Snazziest Collar, Ugliest Mug (given lovingly, of course), Best Smile and Most Attitute. Of course there is also "TOP DOG".

We plan to have a Pet Boutique, Mobile doggy wash and much more. In honor of "Dog Day Afternoon" Cruisers Ice Cream Parlor will be offering our mouth-watering 1/4 lb 100% all beef and Polish hot DOGS available at special price. So dress FIDO in his or her best costume (if you dare) and bring him or her down to the Square! Don't forget your leashes! This event is FREE!!

In addition to great music on September 19, we want you to REV up your engines if you've got em!! We've had so many requests for another car show that we decided September would be a great month to add one! We've combined MUSIC with a CLASSIC CAR SHOW'N SHINE GET TOGETHER. Bring your classic car (or almost classic) to a FREE event where you could be the WINNER of a "Play the Creeks" golf package and stay at beautiful Saddle Creek Golf Course. You get to play both Saddle Creek and Greenhorn Creek golf courses. If you don't have a classic car, come out and enjoy some BEAUTIFUL muscle cars, hot rods, rat rods and MUCH more. This event is FREE!!

WHEW! There's a LOT going on at The Copperopolis Town Square in September. We hope to "CU @ the Square!"

Cruisers Ice Cream Parlor makes the Headlines

Okay, so it's not the headlines, but we did make it in this week's edition of the Sierra Lodestar, the entertainment magazine arm of the Calaveras Enterprise. Click on the link to read the entire story or better yet, come into Cruisers and pick up a copy. The ice cream Sundae on the front cover came from Cruisers and the children in the picture (who just happened to be in the store that day) are our grand-niece and nephews, Kyra, Alex and Ethan.

STAR 92.7 Live on Location Don't forget - STAR 92.7 will be broadcasting live from the Town Square this Saturday from 11:30 to 1:30. Spin the Jackpot Machine for prizes and your chance to qualify for the BIG prize - $10,000!!! The Town Square merchants are also giving away prizes and BIG discounts!! You won't want to miss this event.

Frank has a birthday! You know who Frank is, right? Frank Furter is our friendly Cruiser's greeter. He sits outside of the door and although he looks like he's pouring ketchup on his head, he is really giving you a welcoming salute.

Anyway, he's having a birthday and we will be celebrating it during the entire Labor Day weekend with a special $1.00 off any hot dog or hot dog combo. Just print the coupon below and bring it in to Cruisers.

I think that's it for now.

Star 92.7 Live on Location at Cruisers (and the Town Square)

National Ice Cream Day
On July 19, Cruisers celebrated National Ice Cream Day. We served up lots and lots of FREE banana splits and sundaes. Quite a few of you came in and told us how the Sundae got its name. Kudos to those who felt the need to do the research - even though the answer was in one of my previous emails . Hope you didn't miss it :)

Live on Location

Next on our event schedule is a LIVE radio broadcast. STAR 92.7, one of our local radio stations will be broadcasting from the Town Square from 11:30 until 1:30 on August 15, 2009. Come spin the Jackpot Machine for a chance to qualify for the grand price of $10,000 CASH!! The grand prize winner will be selected on September 16 at Black Oak Casino. Plus you could be the winner of the trip that will be given out during the live broadcast. Wow!! Then at 1:30, we will have live music by Diamond Duo. The Delta Blood Bank will also be here so why not donate while you have the chance?

Ice Cream Flavor of the Moment You may have noticed a few new ice cream flavors in our freezers. We've added Pistaccio and Chocolate Peanut Butter to our everyday menu. Plus we have the "Ice Cream of the Moment". This is a new flavor that we bring in periodically and when it is gone, it's gone unless you tell us that you want us to keep it. Last week we had birthday cake. This was a fun flavor with swirls of frosting and confetti candy--but it only lasted FOUR days!! You gotta be quick and come in often. Our current flavor of the moment is Old fashioned 50/50. You may remember this ice cream - with its combination of creamy vanilla and tart orange sherbet. Mmmmm

National Ice Cream Day - July 19, 2009

What could be better on a hot day than a heaping scoop of ice cream? Only one thing...FREE ice cream!! Sunday, July 19 is NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY. Cruisers Ice Cream Parlor in the Copperopolis Town Square is celebrating National Ice cream Day by offering a buy one, get one FREE sundae or banana split. On July 19, bring your family and celebrate with us as we commemorate our favorite frozen treat.

FUN FACTS:

Why do they call it a "Sundae?"

Some historians claim, but never proven to be true, that the name "sundae" was created in response to the "Blue Laws" which said that ice cream sodas could not be sold on Sundays because they were two "frilly." For some reason the "righteous," were very much against what they called "sucking soda" (especially on the Sabbath). The dish has gone by other names at various time, most notably "sundi" and "Sondhi." Some accounts have explained all these names as attempts to avoid offending the sensibilities of the devoutly religious who might take a dim view of a pile of ice cream and syrup being named after the Sabbath. (read more....Sundae).

Where did ice cream come from?

The history of ice cream is a mixture of both truth and myth. No one would think that it could be traced back to ancient civilizations and that these civilizations possessed techniques of storing and keeping ice. The earliest ice houses could be traced back to 4000 years ago in Mesopotamia. History also shows that the Pharaohs of Egypt used to have ice shipped to them, and that the Roman Emperor, Nero in the 4th Century used to have servants run to the mountains to collect ice for his fruit toppings. Summerfest update
What a fun event this was! If you missed it, you sure missed a fun day. We had two water slides, FANTASTIC music by the California Outlaws, a watermelon eating contest, a dunk tank and of course, an ice cream eating contest. We gave away the barbecue (congratulations to the McThorns of Copperopolis). Here are some pictures of the event.

There is always something fun happening at the Town Square in Copperopolis. We hope to see you at Cruisers Ice Cream Parlor REAL soon!!

New Shops are Open and Special Events Planned

Here we are in March. Daylight savings time is March 8 - that means more sunshine in Copperopolis!! Things have really progressed at the Copperopolis Town Square. If you haven't been here in a while, plan on stopping by soon. Panini's Italian Grill is now offering a full menu and more shops have opened. See below for a list of the shops that are open or will be opening soon.

We had our first Chili Cook-off in January. We could not have asked for better weather. The chili cookers and tasters were out in force and we had a wonderful day. There were so many different chilis - some sweet, some SPICY and some very original.

I didn't have a good chili recipe, but I know a good chili when I taste it so I did my job by being a judge. I'll tell you, we were serious!!
See http://copperonline.com/ for more pictures.

If it's happening, it's happening here! The Copperopolis Town Square is a special place where special events take center stage. We have a few things planned already and we invite you to come out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and country town charm. Here is a list of events
